A Brooklyn builder is planning to replace a Midtown car rental location with a 17-story residential development, records show.
Elias Hoffman, president of Borough Park-based City Builders, filed plans with the Department of Buildings Wednesday for a new 78,665 square-foot project containing 86 dwelling units at 515 W. 43rd St.
The roughly 10,050 square-foot lot, between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, is occupied by an existing Avis car rental, which would be demolished to make way for the development, although demolition permits have not yet been filed.
The proposed building would include a residential spa, bike storage, lounge, coworking space and game room on the ground and cellar floors, with four to six apartments each on floors two through 17, records show. It’s not clear whether the apartments would be rentals or condos. The roof would also contain an outdoor recreation area. Design firm Ismael Leyva Architects is listed as the architect of record.
