An up-close look at the construction of the bridges linking the T6 departures curb to the terminal. I love the way the diagonal columns form this triangular space on the arrivals plaza.
T6 is coming along nicely. Looks like they got more of the overhang cladding on and the pillars are getting their white paint.
Found these images on LinkedIn:
They’re tiling what looks like the T6 baggage claim area. T6’s interior finishes are well underway.
Same with T1. They highlighted the tree columns on their LinkedIn, which look great painted.
In the last picture, it looks like the design of the center spine may have been simplified, with what appears to be the same ceiling treatment as the rest of the headhouse being installed instead of the perforated structure seen in renderings.
While looking for this image, I found the site of the consultant who designed several structural elements at T1, including that spine’s support structure and the ETFE canopy. JFK New Terminal One | Agencie
The columns looks really nice.
I posted this image I found back in August, and it seems the spine will have some kind of interesting shape that isn’t flat, but yes, it is likely simplified, which is kind of disappointing.
In this image, it looks like they’re maintaining the undulating pattern with a different finish. I think this has the potential to look nicer than what was shown in the rendering, but we’ll have to wait and see.
It’s been revealed that JFK T6 will be provided with a fleet of electric vehicles for ground operations at the terminal provided by a company called Fortbrand Services.
Great pics? What release did they come from?
The T1 Linkedin has provided us with a look at the rooftop solar panels. It’s quite an expansive installation.
Here are some interior looks at T1 provided by CDI New York who are actively working on components of the interior such as retail areas.
Great finds.
Landscaping work for T1’s massive outdoor park has begun! Large 8-16 ton boulders are being brought in from upstate NY to create an atmosphere reminiscent of Central Park’s Ramble. The park will feature local vegetation from Long Island and New Jersey when complete.
Forgot to mention, but I was at JFK the other day and can confirm T5’s parking garage entrance toll booth has been relocated to its permanent location inside, clearing the way for the completion of T6’s departures access road. A gantry was installed to continue work on T5’s new departures road exist as well.
I’m not sure when the T5 garage exit booths will be relocated, but I hope it happens soon. The existing exit booths had a glitch preventing them from automatically reading plates, causing a 45-60 minute backup that had cars lining up across multiple floors. Same exact thing happened last time I was there as well, which is awfully concerning.
Iceland Air has become the 15th airline utilize Terminal 6 and is a current user of the old T7. This decision was made with the JetBlue partnership they have in mind.
During my last trip, I learned that work on the access roads and the renovation of JFK has been suspended. Is that correct?
I was at the airport last weekend, and i saw work goin on as usual. I didnt get any impression that the work is suspended.
According to whom? And for what reason?
