What a turd 19 Dutch is :face_vomiting::poop:

I’d argue that 5 Beekman/115 nassau and some of Sam Chang’s handiwork in the neighborhood is at least as ugly but 19 dutch is more prominent. Very unfortunate.

I hate to say it but because 19 Dutch is a rental, the developer and the people who end up renting there probably don’t give a shit about the aesthetics.

8 Spruce is a rental…

I’ll say it - I’m not a fan of Gehry. My wife is, however. She once told me how Gehry sometimes gets his inspiration for the design of his buildings by crumpling up a piece of paper and throwing it on the floor. I told her that didn’t surprise me.

But seriously, you’re right, 8 Spruce sticks out among rental buildings for its aesthetic value. Also worth bearing in mind that that building was finished in 2007 so making it a rental was a great call by the developer. It was originally planned to be a condo but the developers made the switch early on into construction.

Begs the question than… how does Kaufman get his inspiration?
