Not a lot of info yet, but looks promising

There seems to be something unique about this site making this project take a lot longer than it normally would for a building of this size

I took this in February when they were in the middle of excavating the site:

I’ve walked by a few times since then, including a few weeks ago, and although active work is going on, it remains below grade. There are a few very large pipes running E-W across the site, I’m wondering if these have something to do with the slow progress.

Here’s what it looks like today:

There are a few people living in that tan colored buildings that have lot-line windows; and they all have fantastic Hudson River views. I don’t think they mind the continued delays of this project.

My guess is the foundatin work is presenting more challenges than expected: that entire site is land fill. Those “pipes” are there as structural supports for the below grade retaining walls.

That rendering above with the Jeep looks elegant; those curvy walls are an elegant look. :star_struck:

Further south - but same land fill story…

Looks like the architects gave up after they designed the base…

Beautiful windows, fine fabrication and installation.

Vitruvian Triad Time: Utility, Beauty & SOLIDITY (Firmitas)… This one looks like a SOLID product: with precision installation.

Here is an excerpt posted from the link posted above - I am impressed. :star_struck:
Excerpt -
This phase highlights the behind-the-scenes effort: tight site conditions, complex logistics, and careful coordination across teams. One of the most exciting moments?

BTW. Great post/link by Colrain, fine work on the widows by Intercom facades… :factory:

Looks kind of brutal.

I take a rather liberal perspective regarding the aesthetic merits of a given work of architecture. The design of any given building is either Artful or Ordinary: it is for me a simple binary decision in every case.

The architectural design of this particular building IMHO rises above the Ordinary; the execution is therefore “Artful”.

When it comes to (here it comes) the Vitruvian Triad of Usefulness/Beauty/Solidity - I hold Solidity and Usefulness to much stricter standards.

So, yes “brutal” but still beautiful, still ARTFUL…

Yes but it’s not entering into a dialogue with its surroundings.

It doesn’t have the strength of convictions to be brutal. The facade looks like textured concrete but they’re masonry panels. Maybe the graceful ground floor will help the overall picture.
