Ugh. And the eastern face is going to largely be a blank wall of those tiles IIRC!
What a missed opportunity, especially given the location.

Hmm …I’m not really offended by the tiles. they look ok imo
The facade looks cheap and is already damaged. Blech. Anyway- there are a few cantilevers already on the south end.

It looks cheap but not AS cheap as we initially thought…
my main concern is this building is gonna be wrapped in scaffolding and rigged up with those hideous facade access platforms for fixing all the broken tiles only a couple years after its finished. A similar thing happened with stone tiles at the SOM Whole Foods/condo @ Warren St.
Builders should realize that if you want stone in a facade, you should just use full stone blocks like older skyscrapers, and not try to pull these cheap ass curtainwall tricks
Meh, I don’t really care about the cladding. I’ve been waiting for a few years for this to rise and it’s finally happening!
The crap cladding is just for thr lower/school floors. I wonder if the DOE had input. Maybe they went cheap for the school section.
Unfortunately, I think the majority of the eastern facade–not just the base–will be similarly clad (if my memory of the renderings is correct).
no, that’s the base cladding that stops right there,
the glass is already going up, and looks to be okay
I am not sure why people are so upset about this, lots of terrible crap going up all over, I guess, sometimes people just zero in on one poor chap
The west facing facade is all glass, but the eastern facade is not. At least according to the rendering below. Although to be fair, it’s not clear from the rendering whether the tower portion will share the same cladding as the base. But it’s definitely not glass.
looks like it’s a giant blank wall,
better it have some kind of cladding than none
That’s some crazy camouflage action you have going on in your pic between 125 Greenwich and 4WTC. Even where the glass stops on 125 Greenwich near the roof lines up with 4WTC.
