Hopefully they’re just very crude estimations of the colors to correspond to the references like you say. If those are true-to-life than I’m inclined to agree with @GSPLover
Agreed,
But in general and as an overall observation, this will have alot of different elements of different shades, and finishes just based off of how many different colored coded elements they are having to look at. Whether they are all awkwardly colorful or are just different tones of one color (gray or blue, etc) is another story.
I fear that outside of the weird form and shapes on the facade that it will be made to look even more busy from the additional elements that are being called out. A modge podge and mishmash of shapes and colors and no thanks.
I hope the colors are BRIGHT.
I suspect this building will be iconic.
Are these colors for exterior lighting, or is this building supposed to have colored panels?
LED lighting for the exterior. I don’t see anything about colored panels.
Initially, I thought that the colors were for the lighting since the part about the lighting is mentioned, but both the charts/schedules aren’t referencing any lighting anywhere and are more mentioning the cladding/envelope itself. I highly doubt that the colors would be that odd if they were for the lighting even though the first graph matches the next graphs’ order list and mention the text from the weird lighting part.
I still believe they are color coding for a construction diagram/drawing we aren’t seeing/wasn’t taken a screenshot of for all the different types of wall assemblies and cladding panels that are going into the façade.
Otherwise, If I’m wrong, it still doesn’t make sense to make all these individual parts and pieces on the building different colored lighting, it’s going to make it look even worse than it already does. LED lights are of course programmable, but some of the colors don’t even make sense with their assigned assembly.
Either the lights make a rainbow from bottom to top, or they’re placed randomly all over the place. Both options sound fantastic to me, but I won’t be surprised if they take another route. As for the building itself, the shape is so freaking whacky. Never in my life I thought I would soon see a core nearly 20 stories over the top of the building just to form observation decks on the top. The diagram seen on site, I actually like. The random patterns of cladding seen on the diagram looks interesting, and I’m desperately waiting for final renderings
Lime green with purple certainly stands out.
I thought about the Statue of Liberty’s torch🗽 but that’s blue green & gold.
Thanks, TdKv.
That’s what I had assumed and hope.
This is really happening…
It’s a weird but interesting one. I’m all for it
World Wide Plaza can kiss their views goodbye -
I’m very impatient for waiting for these renderings. We all know they’re coming, but I think the night time renderings will stun all of us based on the building shape renderings and the lighting scheme document
I am going on record here saying that “drop ride” will never happen. My cynical take is that feature is being floated (pun intended) out there to generate ongoing talk/speculation about this hotel project.
The legal liability, risk of accident, and the complexity of constructing this contraption are just a few reasons I predict this ‘ride’ will not be built. I hate to be a killjoy - but this outrageous claim is more than I can reasonably believe.
it’s absolutely going to happen and its not far removed as a concept from the elevator ride at 1 Vanderbilt’s summit. No doubt the proper safety precautions will be taken.
I agree with Hudson, the ride is definitely a real aspect of this project otherwise material would not have already been filed with DOB relating to it.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t build the ride. They build these things at theme parks all the time. And you should totally read up on the science behind these specific types of rides, because it’s neat. They use eddy-current magnetic braking. The power could go out and the cable could snap, and you’d still slow down to a nice, gentle stop at the bottom. They’re inherently quite safe.
Can’t we just take drugs like the old days?
