I’m not a fan of this facade so far. It’s a little too obvious that these are prefab veneer slabs. It looks cheap. I expect better from a Stern building, especially at street level.

Aren’t all of Sterns facades prefabricated?

Oh almost certainly. But it’s not always so obvious. This pattern makes the seams very obvious.

And the texture is not the same as the rendering. The rendering looked nice, but what they’ve delivered looks like cheap patio pavers to me.

I have to agree. This is the type of building that warrants limestone considering how manageable it would be to maintain it (not very big), the building’s prestige, and how visible it will be from street level and the Hudson River.

It appears that, but for the rough stone at the bottom of the building on the Vestry St side, it will be clad in smooth limestone.

Also, while I haven’t seen the stone that has been installed to date, I doubt that it’s fabricated.
