The Kuafu super tall is one of those under the radar projects. Hope it happens.

I also hope Sutton Place finds a new developer. Another potential supertall nearby.

That tower was the one they used a competition to pick right? The Kuafu tower

hopefully someone can get something tall built there before the NIMBYs achieve any degree of success in limiting heights for the area.

True. Sutton is as of right, but it does give them ammunition and time. It was the financing loan terms that shut that project down, but these NIMBYs are aggressive, and they even got the local politicians to rally for their cause.

But in anycase, if the site is sold, and a developer with good financing connections comes in, it will be developed. Might be a hit or miss if its a super tall or not with new developers, but at least it will be solid infill at best.

Not a 100% sure about the competition, but the parcel or assemblage that it sits on can easily support a 300m or greater. All it takes is ambition and something tall will rise. The property itself was something like north of 250 million +, so something nice should rise here to make up for the investment. They would be fools not to do so.

Waiting for these buildings to go down. They appear to be boarded up except for the ground floor retail floors

This Is Stern’s opus Magnus. It’s a shame that the developers could not acquire the garbage next door. It presently detracts from this masterpiece. In time, morever, it will be rdeveloped, and the new tower might obscure this gem.

P.S.: kuafu’s Subway Inn site is visible in the aerial photos above and below the chick in the pool.

VG, but for the shlocky retail, these buildings are empty to my knowledge. As per ACRIS, they’re all owned by the same LLC. Multiple people from Lend Lease stated that the developer unsuccessfully tried to buy them.
