CPT will be 170 feet tall and I think a little thicker (at least with Cantilever) its going to distract from the impact that 432 has.

Also 220 CP will have a strong impact from most angles it is only 50 feet shorter than One 57, but has nothing in front of it and has a wider ratio. I think Citigroup tower is a good comparison from the north. 220 is about 40 feet taller and from the north-south just a little more narrow, obviously it wont have the same impact east west as Citigroup tower.

A relative of mine just came back from New York and complained about that “f*cking tall building” which can be seen from everywhere. Let’s just say he’s not the greatest fan but still appreciates the sheer height and impact of 432 PA.
And when I told him that there are even taller buildings being built right now he nearly fainted.

And I will. Uni has kept me busy, so I haven’t been online (even on SSP I barely post anymore). But this is my last semester! Gotta work hard for my return to NYC.

Thank you all.
Re: 432 PA: I think it’s a very elegant tower, no doubt about it. Sure, it stands out for now, but give it 2 or 3 years and the (Midtown) skyline will change dramatically. Never would have thought that the boom would last so long.

432 Park is amazing. It currently dominates the midtown skyline. One building like that is enough though.

That is surprising to hear, Robert. Personally, I want a bunch of towers as tall or taller than 432 Park, and I’m sure/hopeful it will happen in time.

I agree, please not another 432 Park type not only for midtown, but for the entire city! 1 is enough.

I support tall towers in Midtown. This tower looks good, but one tower with that shape is enough. I wouldn’t feared that Vinoly would build another at 125 Greenwich, but fortunately, that will be different,

I agree as well.
Despite that this tower is just thin and very tall, I really liked its shape, square windows and its colors (both at day and at night), but I prefer that tower remains as the one of kind in the city.
And also I think it’s in the right place in Manhattan skyline.

I agree, Dragon.

Further, while I’m no fan of Vinoly, he did comment once that this tower stands near the geographic center of Mahattan and he Sought to design something very tall for that point.

Oh, that’s interesting to know, robert.

A mystery buyer has closed on a $59.1 million purchase of a full-floor pad at 432 Park Avenue – the priciest done deal yet at Macklowe Properties and CIM Group’s ritzy supertall condominium.

A Los Angeles-based corporation, 432 Crotona Park Avenue LLC, is listed as the buyer, according to property records filed with the city on Tuesday. On a per square foot basis, the LLC paid roughly $7,337 per foot for the pad, a combination of two half-floor units that together span more than 8,000 square feet.

Closings at the Rafael Viñoly-designed tower began this past fall, and while $59 million is a sales record for the time being, that’s bound to change very soon.

Saudi billionaire Fawaz Al Hokair is reportedly in contract to buy a penthouse for $95 million, or $11,508 per foot. Last month, an unknown buyer inked a deal for an 8,000-square-foot penthouse asking $76.5 million, or $9,497 per foot. Neither deal has closed.

Since closings began, known buyers include:

Bennett LeBow, chairman of Douglas Elliman’s parent company Vector Group, who paid $44.8 million, or $5,600 per foot, for a full-floor apartment. Meanwhile,

Elliman chief and Vector CEO Howard Lorber shelled out $15 million, or roughly $3,750 per foot, for a half-floor pad on the 67th floor.

Qatari diplomat Nassi Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, a former president of the U.N. General Assembly, paid $16.2 million for a 51st-floor spread.
