Its nice for this one to finally be revealed after working on it for over a year.
I’m sure plenty more renders will be released in the coming days/month. The one view doesn’t really show off the architecture that well. But as one can see it has a striking addition of color (the yellow) that NY buildings dont really have.
There’s already so many judgemental comments toward the design (based on a bad render angle) on SSP, I hope everyone here isn’t so quick to judge the design based on the single render and you get to appreciate the design as I’ve gotten to.
I’d personally say if built there is no building that would be comparable because of the glass.
The large format render shows much more detail but the overall view angle is still a bad one imo.
You’re correct that the new LIRR entrance is the same updated design for that as the recently released updated design for the tower.
The yellow portions are definitely made more so in the render due to the lighting but they are otherwise still yellow (as visible in the top right corner of the tower on the LIRR focused render.)
The yellow will definitely be very visible in the day time as well.
Not sure how the yellow features would appear as being white in the day time though?
Besides the western facing yellow colored object at the top of the tower that is behind the glazing all the other yellow colored objects are not behind glass, they are simply yellow and would not appear color distorted due to time of day or lighting.
For the most part yes, I think the specific placement of the yellow is very cleanly applied (because it’s only allocated to specific areas).
I really wish they had shared the hero shot day time render, it was the best of the batch to me because it really showed off the design and the color placement of the yellow, the one that was shared doesn’t really do anything. I’m hoping they start sharing everything soon.
I really like the look of the concave glass bays that form the tower’s west facade. The full size NY Post rendering seems to show that the exposed core is clad in similarly concave panels which would be a very nice texture for those solid walls.
If you zoom in to the image there is alot of texture elements applied to the curtain wall. on the sides looks like fins and on the street facing facade it looks like there’s some angular indented panels
@devdov, I am but I normally don’t discuss work related things, I only discuss matters that have been made public or add upon publicly available information.
@The_Don that’s certainly one aspect, but I was more so speaking to the glass being curved. The yellow elements are not glass.
@BK1985 right you are the spandrels and horizontal cuts all have very subtle detailing, it’s not just the street facing portion. The building design is sort of like a combining of 3/4 differently designed boxes that all work together and share features with each other.
If you’re wondering why the render on the board looks different than the render that also shows the tower that is because the building will have a temporary facade until the time that the tower is built and the final facade is installed to replace the temp one.
I wonder where yimby got access to the western elevation render since BXP has not released any more renders but for the 2 (the night shot and the corner LIRR entrance one). There are certainly no updated renders on Volley Studio’s website.
