NEW YORK | 317 Broadway | 210 FT | 20 FLOORS

Has a tenant replaced McD at this filthy little eyesore? If not, I hope that it gets razed and replaced by something decent. The building that was on this site was gorgeous.

I’d like to see a replica of the old building rebuilt here tbh. Expensive and unlikely, but it is pretty small and there is a twin across the street to study from.

I agree, but I’d be happy with even a glass box.

From the Tribeca Citizen article above

If there is any chance of getting the old building back- Morris Adjmi is the one to do it.

Sadly, there’s no chance of it, but Adjmi, at least, will do something great.

If and when this excrement is demolished, I’ll pop open some Champagne. They’re among the most intolerable eyesores downtown.

I agree that the likelihood of a copy is close to nill but it has happened. Probably not a trendy enough area though.

Personally I think Morris Adjmi can do better on the corner building, also looking forward to the mandatory LPC height chop. The restoration of 315 is fantastic though, WHO PAINTS OVER MARBLE?

I love the new building, and I’m pleasantly surprised that the old gem next door will be restored. The Civic District is so beautiful.

This new version looks awesome. Adjmi is the best for these types of projects.

If only the LPC had jurisdiction over cheap hotel design haha. I like the new version a lot more, the old one looked like a 70s/80s college dorm building.

Looks fairly similar to the original. Pic from the Yimby article and the 1940s tax photo.
