Found this cool wireframe diagram on the web page for a seminar hosted by Edward DePaola, CEO of Severud Associates who engineered this building:

β€œNow under construction, the building will when completed stand 1,388 ft. tall, replacing the now demolished Union Carbide building.”

Ah so we are going to get the diamonds on the sides

I thought that was the plan since we can see them in construction photos. Or were your referring to the possibility that they would be covered up instead of being expressed structural elements?

Based on the info and graphics leaked so far, it seems like there are two likely versions of the design-- one with diamonds all the way up, and one where the two top-most segments have A-frames rather than diamonds. The all-diamonds design shows up in a wind tunnel report dated November 2019 and a DOB elevator diagram from October 2020, while the A-frame version can be found in the TT structural peer review dated September 2020. The diagram from the Notre Dame seminar also shows the all-diamond version.

I’ve edited my photomontage to show the two variant designs:

It’s hard to weigh up the sources to judge which version seems more likely at this point!
