NEW YORK | 270 Park Ave | 1,389 FT | 70 FLOORS

My theory is that that generation spent their entire lives surrounded by lead ink, leaded gas fumes, and lead paint.

DAMN if they do actually add similar lighting to that then this will look great, don’t even get me started on multicolored lights.

I think that it’s going to be illuminated in that manner.

Glad you didn’t see me made the original new design for 270 Park Avenue that looks like a box. Its funny when you always mention 50 Hudson Yards because its a boxy building.

This site is huge. It’s double the size of 1 Vandy and The Roosevelt.

I’m looking forward to the official renderings from Foster. It will be interesting to see how Foster’s details line up with all of the speculative renderings on this forum.

What’s speculative? Yimby posted Foster’s model.

Model’s are a snapshot in time. Architects fine-tune their designs up until the point of construction.

The official renderings will give us a better sense of the details (base, cladding, crown, lighting, etc.)

But that’s the design. Renderings won’t show anything else. Of course, even official renderings and models can change over time. Consider all of the HY towers. Nonetheless, on some forums, they’re pitching a false idea that these images are merely Tom’s speculation. That’s not true. Yimby posted Foster’s model.

I hope that they include some fountains.

Also, I hope that JPMC buys that crappy block to the north and redevelops it.

I like how other publications cite Yimby!

No real Info to share from my friend last week, they did say thew saw some other models but wouldn’t say anything more.

I went through my camera roll and found some old pictures of the few times I had been in the building. Its still kind of nuts to me that all of this is literally in the trash.

Do we have any idea what they are planning to do with all these materials?

Good question. As an SOM building I’m sure all of the finishing/details is very high quality, and it would be a shame to see that just end up in the landfill. Personally I’d like a chunk of the stainless steel spandrels as a souvenir, that way I’d be one of very few people who can say I own a piece of Manhattan skyscraper! Plus, those spandrels were always the most attractive part of the old building.
