I wonder if the pebbles are cemented down or are they free to be picked up and loose. If they’re loose some delinquent or disturbed individual might be able to take one and break a window or hurt someone with it.
They’re probably just testing and showing that they will cast more flags other than the USA

That is a legitimately hilarious coincidence. I didn’t think my single comment had that much impact…
I’d say the most disappointing aspect of this tower is the mechanical cladding, especially during the day. But you barely see it at night and the lighting stands out more
My original impression was this building is nothing but a big, boring, artless tower. That was before I was aware of the extent of the extravagant lighting on the facade, the “billowing” flag pole, the rock wall, and the water feature; all a bit tacky - but very entertaining. ![]()
I am now loving this Architectural “spectacle”. ![]()

I wonder if Chase would’ve bought more air rights to get this one to 3M sf if they knew what they do today about the office market recovery and their space needs.
Even as is this is a statement building and it works.

I went to check the stone walls, I’m warming up to them:
I still get impressed at how massive this columns are (including human for scale
)
I hope the find a solution to whatever is going on here:
The plants help I think. Without the greenery it’d be bland and quite boring. It’ll look even more amazing when the plants grow to larger sizes.
Agree this looks better than it did when it was first installed but execution aside, I’m not convinced the idea fits with the character of the building.
