For fans of that earlier asymmetrical design for this building — this article on their site includes some diagrams of a similar iteration, as well as some backstory:
In 2017, Foster + Partners entered a competition for the new headquarters of JP Morgan at 270 Park Avenue. The brief called for a building around 420 metres tall, on a narrow site just 43 metres wide and, crucially, over underground railway lines that lead into Grand Central Station.
I walked by today and seems like they’re starting to build out the stairs and walls by stairs in the lobby. They also seemed to be building out the front of the Madison Ave entrance.
I think it is possible to see the light fixtures within the 4th tier mech floor facades, but It’s very hard to tell without having a closer image. This might be easier to determine on the south facing side once the facade goes up more, since it doesn’t have the construction elevator blocking most of it and is the more lit side during the day
Plenty of great photos dropped recently. Here is one that is not a ‘curb side’ vantage point, not a ‘vicinity’ vantage point: this is a ‘skyline’ vantage point. Taken from a rooftop on the Lower East Side. Those ‘curb side’ or close-up views above are awesome…thanks.
I particularly like this vantage point from the LES when it comes to skyline views.
