Concerning the base, how does one clean the glass at such an angle?

They will probably just use a cherry picker lift, they are used in a lot of applications to clean windows/facades at ground level.

I’ve often wondered how they will keep birds from building nests in the honeycomb styling of the base facade. Looks cool, but I don’t think it is very practical.

the trading floor will be crawling with snakes so that might persuade the birds to nest elsewhere

hey guys

These FAUX beams are actually a good look - even if they are not actually the REAL structural beams which are concealed behind those facade panels.

I recently saw a new building (see photo below) that to exposed the ‘actual’ structural beams instead of using some sort of cover panel: the look here at 270 is MUCH better IMHO.

Here is a photo (In Chelsea) of a new construction building ‘featuring’ the structural beams: OK, but the 270 Park faux/fake beams look much better - and clearly lower maintenance. Imagine trying to clean that glass from the inside…

I do believe we have cladding starting on the second to last tier

Yes, here’s further confirmation via an EarthCam from One Vanderbilt:

The louver spacing on the 4th tier cladding looks to be of a different nature than that of the typical mech cladding we have seen. The pattern is staggered across panel joints instead of staggering within the panels, so there is less openings and the appearance of more glass but the area of glass to louver is the same as that of those below.

I think this was a good decision. Probably would’ve looked awkward to have such a tall dark spot near the top.
