The Empire State Building would take that spot, with a base 425’ in length, then its 270 at 366.5’ and then 30 Hudson Yards at an extremely close 2nd at 365.6’.
But is that fair? The base of ESB is more like the podium for the actual tower.
Does the 30 Hudson Yards figure include the mall (20 Hudson Yards)? They’re basically one structure.
Is doesnt, that’s just the dimensions from west to east. Even though the mall is attached it still has a different address so it’s considered a “different” building.
@stache Egh, that’s true, but the base is still an integral portion of the tower, many Art Deco buildings have “podiums” in the sense of a bottom, mid/stem, and top/crown layout, but the ESB’s first few floors are still a part of the building regardless of how they are classified in terms of massing so it’s not really a question of fairness.

I feel like it’s taking a while for them to put up the last bit of new steel. Any insight as to why?
It looks like they are just trying to finish out work on L60 and L59 before installing the actual parapet steel.
There appears to be a smaller mobile crane on top now. Also there is a large container? Visible on the right side of the diamond.
The box looks like it is maybe one of the cooling tower units. The other thing is just a boom lift/cherry picker (the derrick crane that will disassemble the main crane is much larger), its been up there a while but was on the bottom of the crown before.
The diamonds don’t look so awful in this lighting.
That comment reminds me of a favorite song - enjoy the musical interlude to this thread.

I was trying to find different locations over the past week to capture the completed diamond of the final tier but it didn’t happen—hopefully they put new steel up this coming week. Now that the cooling unit or whatever that large obstruction is has been placed up there, it looks like I won’t be able to get a completed see-through shot. Oh well.

Kind of difficult to tell if these columns reach topout status, very possible I’d say. I cant confirm without seeing the top of the columns though (to see if they have splices or not.
