I hope that the new design is as nice and not a heinous 50 HY redux.
Setbacks or just tapering? Iâm not in love with the tapering design but like it better than the random setbacks version
The diagonal bracing looks good. I like this design. It looks like they plan on having an atrium on the upper floor with trees, similar to One Vanderbilt.
Remember everyone. Those are OLD renderings when it was to be 1,200 feet.
I like the old design and I think it stands out in the skyline, hopefully they will come up with a similar design with the diagonal bracing plus an elegant shape. Iâd love to see more diagonal lines in NYC.
It will be very depressing if this is 50 HY 2.0.
it wont be. the base of the building will be very interesting.
Have you seen the design?
What about the rest of the tower about the rest of the tower above the base? Is it basically a box with one setback and a flat top like 50 HY?
its not like 50HY. my feeling is that you will not care for it though, based on prior experience.
Thanks. I assume that youâve seen it. Can you describe it?
The documents shown to the city indicate that it fans out four times at the base on the N and S sides. Are there also setbacks?
i cant describe it at this time. sorry
No problem. I just hope that itâs better than 50 HY. Foster routinely delivers boring boxes for NY.
A box with lots of setbacks like this would be acceptable. This is jazzy compared to 50 HY.
maybe youâll like it
When will the design be released?
i dont know. I would expect by the end of summer.
Thanks. Iâll keep my fingers crossed.
The early rendering of the tower that slopes back and had a slanted roof was beautiful. Itâs a shame that wonât rise here.
I hope that this is decent. I cannot stand 50 HY and hope that Foster doesnât let us down again. He designs masterpieces for every city but NY, where he routinely drops the ball.
JP Morgan Chase NDAs are fierce. Iâm just glad JRF is on the forum
I agree.
According to NYguy on SSP, the early filing has it at 1,322 ft at 57 stories

Edit: since the links seem unreliable I took a screenshot from the website. Perimeter wall is 1,341 feet
