Really glad our community is around to document something historic such as this demolition. However controversial it is. Thanks for the update @Oppix56!

How long is this demo going to take, does anyone know or can make an educated guess?

My guess would be over a year

That article mentions construction on the new tower starts January 2021. Year and a half-ish

Those things that are sticking out of the building, that could probably just be holding up netting

Hard to see, but I noticed black netting around the equipment tower on top of the skyscraper

Yeah its’ definitely being dissembled. Couldn’t get a decent pic with my crappy cellphone zoom.

Someone on SSP saw a rendering, and apparently. It’s a box with four setbacks.

The poster also said that it had a “definite peak.” He didn’t elaborate, but I’m hoping that means a crown of some sort.

“Took a screen grab but don’t want to host anything. It’s not the massing from before, but its a box with about 8 setbacks, 4 on each side. If you look at the plan we saw, each of those ‘jogs’ of the floors overhead corresponds to a setback. The design seems far along”

The poster said this as well: “[…] it is indeed blocky with no spires, but more nuanced then the massing model, with a definite peak.”

From SSP, someone posted early renders there when it was going to be 1,200 feet

To save y’all a few clicks, here were the renderings. Very curious if that was Foster who designed it. Kind of like the tapering profile. Credit to NYguy on SSP:
