I would not be surprised if JPMC made a public plaza out of the former Bank of China building on the west side of Madison. Jamie Dimon seems intent on making this area irresistible.
Why would he turn such valuable real estate into a public plaza? Especially when 270 plans to have a massive one itself.

It’s not that valuable in and of itself. Nothing substantial could be built there.
Private entities in recent years have built exceptional public amenities (e.g., Little Island and the HY Vessel).
JPMC is one of the oldest and richest organizations in NY. I could see it adding a Public amenity, especially one that enhances the area around its HQ.
That’s not going to happen because JPMC already recently purchased additional airrights from St. Bartholomew’s Church for 410 Madison Ave (the former BoC building). They wouldn’t have done that if they weren’t intent on redeveloping the site with a possible small satellite tower.
Walking by earlier today. I have new pics from Sunset Park and Weehawken with my dslr but I’m a slow editor. 
It big. I wonder if they will wait to clad an entire diamond before installing the rest of the outer facade?
That’s definitely a possibility 
I had a fairly short walk today but I did walk around the tower and there were lots of columns waiting to be lifted up, including a galvanized one.
Any idea why a column would be galvanized?
