What w/all the talk of “fresh air” you have to wonder why Terry Gross wasn’t conducting that interview.
Steel for the first of the two levels of mech/outrigger floors was installed yesterday morning and cladding has now wrapped completely around the first trade floor. I didn’t get any snaps yesterday though, will tomorrow.
I’ll try to post an update to my construction timeline by tonight and we will see if things have sped up or remained steady up to the current point of construction.
Evening all, though I kept my word, I apologize for posting this so late, it was actually quite laborious to try to go through images to see when beams were installed for floors as the building grows taller (and do remember the dates correspond to beam installation for floors, not columns), not to mention I am still without programs, nonetheless, I still was able to update the diagram.
Since I do not show column height or column installation dates, as I previously mentioned, columns were installed for the first mech/outrigger floor of the 3rd tier, with the column splice reaching 856’.
I highlighted/enlarged certain pinpoint dates to signify the major milestone dates.
- Reaching the top of the tabletop structure
- Reaching the first setback
- Reaching the midpoint height of the building
- Reaching the second setback
The two intermediate lines represent the heights of the original building (707’) and 383 Madison Ave (756’), but since my dates are not conforming to column installation I can not add them as dots along the line graph portion, especially since columns are installed for 2 floors at a time so the dates wouldn’t correspond anyways.
In terms of pace, with all that has gone on since the last update on New Years, the pace has slowed the slightest, but it is negligible, even with the incident in March, the removal of the first crane, and the single mech/outrigger floor. I still don’t expect construction to speed up exponentially though since 2 cranes working on a smaller area is still the same as 4 cranes working on a larger area.
Great analysis.
When do you think that the next set back will be reached? 3 months? Four months?
I think 3 months is a more “reasonable” time frame, though it certainly could always take 4.
Thanks.
Gonna love all the lighting on this one at night. Especially from the ground
That’s a great photo.
I can’t wait to see 350 Park in this scene.
Finally* saw the column cladding lit up by the sun, its beautiful. Fireproofing has also progressed on the southeast corner of the base, so this can only be an indication that those panels will soon be put on, atleast the upper mezzanine floor cladding, I imagine the full length of the fan columns wont be clad until things at the base start clearing/cleaning up since they could get damaged.
Only 2 more floors until we see the slotted louver cladding for the mech floors similar to those at One Vanderbilt but I believe in a denser array.
Great photos!
