Really starting to see that taper! The E/W profile is my favorite part of the design.
They are still 4 floors from the 2nd setback counting from the last completely decked floor, the new columns make that 2 more floors until the setback So still a ways away, but by about the end of the month is still reasonable for the 2nd setback to be reached.
@Nickfloyo think you’re getting way ahead of yourself in saying the 3rd setback .
270 looks like it’s now taller than 383 Madison.
It is by about 20-25’.
Oops my bad. I meant to say third tier/ section.
Lol, I mean generally the rest of my comment still stands, there are still 4 more floors until the 2nd setback/3rd tier, the apex of the diamond hasn’t been reached yet and I can’t quite tell what you saw in your own photos that lead you to believe that it had been reached.
The approx. height of the next tier is located around/about the height of the top of the crane cabs.
I will update my construction timeline/height diagram when the next setback is reached later in the month or wait slightly until May. Last time I updated it was on the New Year and 6 floors have been built since, keep in mind that one of those floors was an outrigger/mech floor.
Nice first post. Welcome to the forum.
and the job has been shut down for a couple weeks.
i think they are starting with steel again now because i passed a truck in the area that had a column for this job on it - probably headed to the GWB for overnight.
Can confirm the cranes are moving per Earthcam - midtown
That telephoto lens really came in handy!
The taper as the tower rises is really visible in some of these photos. These are some beautiful shots.
Thank you I was actually going for the taper and the uh bulge(?) in my pics. Lol. Sorry don’t know how to better describe that.
But yeah this tower has some beautiful geometry going on.
I appreciate the layers it has both horizontally and vertically.
Your snaps never fail to impress like a number of our other professional photographers here!
Bulging is a good term for what it looks like/is doing but those would also still be classified as setbacks, the building has setbacks in all 3 axes.
