Curious what’s happening with the Times Sq. Theatre (217 W. 42nd). Not much has happened there in 30 years.
as of last year:
Cahan said she and Mendelson, who is now at Colliers International, are in talks with another prospective tenant who would renovate the property for a non-theater use, but declined to comment further.
I saw on ACRIS that a lease with signed with Stillman Development.
Stillman last year signed a 73-year lease for the space, and plans to restore its architectural features while lifting the theater’s limestone façade by five feet to create higher ceilings on the ground floor.
The developer will also construct a two-story glass box and outdoor space.
More details in Forbes, which broke the story.
Ouch. Just… ouch. Yep, this looks like times square alright… At least its being reactivated and won’t sit derelict. I was naively hoping they wouldnt tarnish it.
new tower?
How have you come to this conclusion and based off of what information?
It’d do good for you to not think that everything you see is being developed into a new tower all the time, as the numerous times you’ve come to that conclusion there are almost never any connections points that can be made in coming to that conclusion, this is one of them. You’re also falsely potentially leading people on.
The article says
“The project by Stillman International Development isn’t dead, it only hit the pause button.”
They are looking for someone to sublease space in the building before continuing forward with the conversion redevelopment.
I understand that english is not your first language but if you need to, please try to translate articles before coming to conclusions when posting them. The article you posted is helpful but the odd conclusion you’ve come to is not.
The Times Square Theater is supposed to have two additional floors on top and a dramatic glass box cantilevered over the 42nd Street sidewalk.
