I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Let’s all pool money into this thing and become the anchor tenant this building needs. We could finally get the Diamond top design.
Silverstein’s ego, bucket list, etc clouted 2WTC redevelopment, I also always felt this, thank you finally someone said it out loud.
Lucky Larry has become Shady Silverstein
I see this on Threads all the time. People are so damn intellectually lazy. Either they use AI to outsource all their thinking or it’s literally AI/bots scraping posts from others and reposting.
“Lucky Larry”? We’re spiraling into insane conspiracies now?
He had no luck in anything.
That’s a term that’s been thrown around. I never believed it.
Also the 2 WTC page from 16 days ago isn’t on the WTC site anymore
That newest massing actually looks really good from the east, I’d even say it looks the best out of all the proposals from that angle.
This pic on the website doesn’t have a spire dotted in. Here’s to hoping
You opening up your modeling software for this building every few months/years when Larry farts himself awake for a redesign:
When will construction begin?
We don’t have a construction timeline nor confirmation they have secured a tenant yet.
interesting name choice
These photos were uploaded to the wtc website’s wp-content uploads folder in August, one of them is the hudson river render of the tower before it got butchered to 2.2m sqf.
The others are renders we haven’t seen/seen blurry. There are some other pics there which were already found so I won’t show them again.
These photos, are from October:
The lobby was drastically altered and it’s layout is reverted to the original diamonds design. Might as well revert the whole design…
Funny how VH focused the sun on the EcoSlop tower but didn’t remove it’s original reflection from 200 West Street.
Cobbled together a quick Minecraft replica of the newest version. Also started making the other buildings to compare how it fits in.
I understand where the idea for a spire comes from, since the large fin dividing the west side just abruptly stops otherwise. It just happens to also look absolutely atrocious.
(The only raytracing preset that lets me see office lights from far away comes with the side effect of removing the windows entirely, and being a schizophrenia simulator)
Ignoring the spire, it still has probably the best east profile of all the proposals so far, but it’s simply too short compared to tower 3 for me to find it appealing.
In isolation, with no spire:
They really do need to go back to the diamond design. They have become so fixated on these damn outdoor spaces for the last two designs of the tower and I don’t know why. Plenty of new and successful towers have gone up in the city over the past handful of years that have no outdoor space on the higher floors. It’s not necessary. Bring back the timeless and rightful diamond design!
Even then they could just work them into the north or east sides which are just monotonous glass.
I excluded my least favorite design. I came into this experiment thinking the basement model would be my 2nd favorite, and that it would somewhat complement 5WTC. I was wrong. Considering the cantilevered blocky base, the uneven girdle things lining the tower, the random vents and panes of glass dotted around said girdles, The asymmetrical setbacks, and the giant PS5 roof with an advertising billboard looming over the site of a mass murder, it’s hard to believe an actual human designed it.
These are very nice models I think the spire on your version of the latest iteration is relatively short though compared to what the renders are showing.
If the random basement iteration was to ever come back i wouldn’t worry about the top being a giant logo, atleast not for Deutsche Bank since they moved to TWC (now Deutsche Bank Center).
Though some other company could still always put their logo and/or putting logos/advertisements of a tenant on a building, thats actually a very difficult thing to do with new buildings, its really somewhat not allowed by DOB, buildings that do have logos on them were grandfathered in after amendments were made to the code.
