NEW YORK | 200 Greenwich St (2WTC) | 1,251 FT | 90 FLOORS | ON HOLD

The 5WTC update is very disappointing, but 2WTC looks great in those model photos!

Interesting that the 1WTC models have the chamfered podium corners, and the smaller one still has the earlier sculptural comms ring – that model in particular must be ancient!

The PAC NOT on an angle bothers me. They gotta correct that lol. And of course after I JUST altered my model last night I gotta do it again

I remain critical about the design, but hopefully we finally get this done.

It would be perfect with the stepback roof rotated for hudson and memorial views, even if it was less imposing in mass next to 1.

I still can’t exactly wrap my head around this being an actual proposal. Just everything about it is off in my opinion. The weird mechanical level covers and the way the top just awkwardly ends. I’m glad this design was never actually picked

I honestly like it a lot more than the current version, aside from the top. But it would’ve been so oddly tone-deaf to go from the “acknowledges the voids left behind by the absence of the twin towers” diamond crown, to the “lol here’s a giant Deutsche Bank company logo looming over the memorial” crown

Consider it a memorial to the deutsche bank tower

I wonder, when they talk about designs (assuming the negotiations get to that phase), is the first Foster design (the diamond one) still on the table or is it Bjark Ingel’s + Foster’s second design? Let’s be honest, we have no clue what’s been talked about, and it wouldn’t surprise me if another redesign will happen if American Express signs the “deal”.

Still hoping 2 miracles will happen, Amex signing a lease and the return of a diamond shaped design. Maybe we’re getting some confirmation this month?

There’s always hope. But it’s only recently that we see releases and teases of more and more of these models, despite the design being done 3 years ago. The specific timing has to do with amex and their direction, I would guess.

Saw these posted in a skyscraper group on FB… I don’t think this concept was ever shared here (nor do I know if “Nhat Minh” is some skyscraper enthusiast or someone who actually created a viable idea for 2WTC)

The idea of having 2WTC taller than 1WTC alone makes this inplausible, but I feel people here would be curious to see (amongst the other concepts that already exist)

I honestly liked this design a little more! To me it compliments 1 WTC more and creates the Twin Towers’ dominance vibe

I wonder if it’s ever allowed to build something higher than 1WTC in lower manhattan.

I think it draws too much design language from One WTC that the concept ends up looking like an unfinished version of it. It looks as if someone was carving One WTC out of stone and gave up halfway.

That was someone’s fan-made concept, originally posted to Reddit: source

Oh boy…those models of 2 WTC completely turned me off from the design. Far too many setbacks and cut outs - it doesn’t fit in with the complex at all in my opinion. It’s too demanding against 1 WTC and let’s face it - we will never see that many trees covering those cutouts like we do in the renders. Not in NYC. I really hope if AMEX signs here that we get a more subtle but still iconic design change. Or at least tone this one down a bit. No hate - just my opinion.

Even when that design was in the running, there were unresolved internal concerns about ice buildup on the diamond crown, so I wouldn’t count on it.

Please give us an outdoor observation deck at the top. Please?

It would be fantastic, but might cause some beef since Tower 1 is owned by Durst so there would be direct competition between them for tourists

Silverstein has the chance to do the funniest thing

At 400-411m, it would also be some 20m above tower 1’s deck

If it was possible, I’d like to see them expand One Dine onto the floors with the observation deck/event space and move the observation deck to tower 2.

In a site where things were developed normally and incompetent people like Pat Foye would have never been involved, some partnerships like that could’ve happened, long ago.
But its impractical to separate the observation from the dining, and 1 is the main skyscraper of the site and it’s supposed to be the iconic tourist centerpiece, after all.
