It may technically be a spire, but it has no architectural merit as it’s only an internal supporting structure that was never designed to be visible (apart from the beacon) – even David Childs thought that.

Anyone have any ideas when they will fence off the remaining sections of the site? I guess it’s not very important right now but I’m also curious as to when they will start digging up the part of the site where the beer garden sat as well. Correct me if I’m wrong but the dark concrete section where the beer garden was is also part of the tower foot print, no?

Looks like work inside the core has really ramped up, with internal formwork going in and more of the final ducts coming out. As JRF indicated, a first pour during the week of November 1 seems likely.
