This is one of the most beautiful projects I’ve ever seen. But is it really not going to break 500 meters?
We’ll probally find out the precise height once more detail is revealed in the community meeting at 6 pm.
83 floors was updated in the title.
Need better renderings. So far I’m whelmed. The flat top is utterly disappointing with that lattice facade that is so obviously emulating the crown of the Chrysler Building
Cool that this is getting a Park Avenue address. I’ve always associated SOM with Park Avenue, i.e. with Lever House, Pepsi Cola, and the late Union Carbide.
Both this building and 270 Park are going to have really dramatic, magnificent bases. So freakin’ cool.
This looks great! Going to build this in my city:grin:
Unrelated, but someone should add it to the SkyscraperPage diagrams as well.
Looking forward to see this go down and up.
I’ll have a great vantage point from the Chanin Building across the street
What an absolute unit. Also, I’m a sucker for any improvements made to public transit passenger flow.
China Resources HQ is by KPF, but it does seem like it could have a similar effect. Will be interesting to see how the fin depths continue up the tower
Somehow this makes 1 Vandy look short! Wonder if this will spur the pedestrianization of the Grand Central viaduct
the architectural gods have blessed us.
I can’t wait to see a color rendering of the whole tower.
New York! America!
They’re dancing on Broadway!
The top looks like it would be amazing if it had a spire. This is still good news for New York. Hopefully they’ll show more renders soon!
Fantastic work rgarri! That future skyline looks unbelievably badass, but it’s still crying out for a 2,000 ft centerpiece.
I think the top should be rounded rather than flat, but I’m kinda glad it doesn’t have a spire. With the triangular openings in the crown, a spire would make it look too much like Chrysler. While Chrysler is obviously magnificent, this new tower should reference and emulate it, not outright imitate it.
i agree, with these new crown details i imagine we’ll see something similar to the Salesforce tower in SF
