But that doesn’t mean that the building on Lex was acquired. The last time I checked ACRIS, it was still with the same owner.

That render is wishful thinking, just like Macklowe’s render of Tower 5th with the Venezuelan embassy site.

I hope both are razed, but I’m not holding my breath.

I don’t think that Macklowe needs the consulate to build his hideous POS.

That’s unfortunate. I would’ve liked to see this rise

It will rise, obviously, but probably not in the immediate future. This is one of the most valuable residential assemblages on the planet.

I should have been more specific; I was referring to the 51st street street level renders. The bulk of the dev rights for Macklowe’s tower would be air rights transfers from the Cathedral across the street.

I brought up Tower 5th because there are renders of this tower at ground level with the awful Lexington ave building razed.

Oh, how I would of ABSOLUTELY LOVED for this to go up!

I was thinking about this project today. With the booming market, I’d expect that something will rise here soon. I hope that the developer acquires the terrible building on Lex.

Another site that I can see being developed is the Third Avenue side of Bloomingdale’s. I don’t see how they need all of that space.

This is on Visual Houses website, no idea the state of the project.

So, this site still has the rights right?
It’s still good for development?

Are they just waiting, for something?

Nvm. Just went through the whole thread to remind myself. This will eventually rise, maybe extell will take control of it or JDS. Hopefully we get something like 1,250 ish ft here

This is an unbelievably prime site on the UES border, across from Bloomingdale’s, that won’t be an empty parcel forever. I’m sure something huge will be developed here, although maybe not what the renderings show. Give it within five years and we’ll likely have some fresh permits filed.

Here’s some more info on why this site was never built up: https://newyorkyimby.com/2019/01/kuafu-properties-planned-supertall-at-151-east-60th-street-appears-to-be-latest-casualty-of-chinese-development-bust-on-the-upper-east-side.html

Rendering different from ones posted I saw on 6sqft

Yeah sorry about that. You posted the same time I edited my comment.

Hopefully this site gets built in the next 5 years, it’ll be an interesting site with supertalls on both the UWS and UES. (Though the UWS will be considerably taller, and in my dreams a megatall)

The same entity who has owned the properties refinanced it again for $80 million in April of 2021, so it’s confusing that the Yimby article that was posted in 2019 says that Kuafu Properties backed out of the deal entirely unless a new Developer signed on to take the site and the party owner remained the same?

I suspect that Kuafu is being constrained by Chairman Mao.

Anyway, the fanned out design is the latest.

Is that around 1,000 ft?

If I recall it was in the 1200 ft ballpark but I could be wrong

It’s about 1,000.

All the designs from various firms surrounding this development all say “rise around 1000 ft”

The specific proposal by Archilier was 1240’.

Still in limbo, but Kuafu (or whoever develops this site) has to get the building on Lex. Who will want to pay tens of millions to enter a building across from Bloomies’ loading docks.
