A 34-story residential building is poised to replace a corner lot on the Upper East Side now occupied by several low-slung properties, records show.
Midtown-based Skyline Developers, which was started by Orin Wilf in 1999, filed permits with the Department of Buildings this week to erect a 508-foot tower with 66 dwelling units at 185 E. 80th St., according to city records.
The proposed structure would rise between Lexington and Third avenues and replace what’s now a 4-story building containing six apartments and two commercial units, including a locksmith and a cleaners, the latter of which is closed. It would include between one and three apartments on each floor — it’s unclear if they would be rentals or condos — as well as 23 enclosed parking spots in the cellar, retail space on the first floor, and designated rooms for laundry, pet care, exercise and yoga, and billiards. The residential space would span about 242,000 square feet, and the commercial, about 2,000, records show.
Jack Silverstein, whose title at the Wilf family-owned real estate company is unclear, filed the permits on behalf of Skyline, records show.
The Wilf family, who keep a low profile and rarely do interviews, had filed permits last month to demolish the East 80th Street building along with three adjacent properties, all also 4 stories, at 1410-1418 Third Ave. No plans have been filed at this time along Third Avenue, however.
Very promising. The base, the bay windows, the irregular penthouse terraces, the underground garage entrance, etc. all point to a ritzy traditional styled high rise.
