It’s unfortunate that transformational developments like these never do anything to curb the fervent anti-height/density sentiments among Chicago resident associations and aldermen. The dramatic enhancement of the streetscape/skyline is readily apparent and they’re still under construction. When complete the impact on vibrancy and scale will be palpable yet if a developer proposed a skyscraper across the street it would be met with hostility and long battle for approval where scale-backs and redesigns would be obligatory.
