Ugly or not, it dares the public to even attempt to ignore or erase it. Usually I’d hate that sort of architecture, but not in this case.

Sure, I’d prefer something vernacular, contextual, unassuming like the FDR library, but it’s taken decades to erode FDR’s accomplishments, and many of those New Deal buildings, parks, and monuments will endure.

The word-pattern coming up certainly gives it some justice, but the color makes it look like a jail.
