A real estate developer proposed two high-rise towers — 58-floor and 51-floor buildings — with 1,500 housing units in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco at a site previously home to the city’s oldest and largest tennis club.

The Business Times reported that records from the San Francisco Planning Department showed that Strada plans to split the 88 Bluxome St. property into three separate parcels, with both towers on separate parcels and the third reserved for a future affordable housing project.

The two towers, which are proposed to have 785 housing units and 715 housing units, would be 600 feet tall and 528 feet tall, according to records from the planning department, and have 58 and 51 floors, respectively. The city agency said that the application is currently in intake.

The application for the project said that 150 of the units would be affordable housing for low-income occupants, while the other 1,350 units would be market-rate homes. The buildings would include apartments ranging from studios to three-bedrooms, as well as nearly 470 parking spaces.

We finally got our hands on the source material yesterday afternoon when the permits were filed, and we got to share more renderings. It was interesting to learn that Henning Larsen is involved too! This is their third design for San Francisco since I started covering this beat.

I found it especially interesting to see them collaborating with SCB, two firms that do some thoughtful work, but they approach skyscrapers in rather different ways. From what I’ve seen, Henning Larsen is always trying to do something playful, whereas SCB plays it pretty straight. I think it makes for a good combo if the renderings are anything to go by.
