Seriously. And I actually really liked the older design.

The Torch is definitely one of the buildings of all time

Buzz, your building’s cladding…woof!

The cladding looks like something you’d see in a suburban office park. I mean if you’re going to make a building with a totally unique shape that a gazillion people will take pics of you’d think they’d make the cladding look more elevated than that… I know I’m just stating the obvious!

Beautiful!

Agreed. At this point just scrap the spire/torch portion and keep it a hotel. It’s too “filler” looking to be so prominent

Its the worst building to half ass. I mean this thing is going to be one of the most visible skyscrapers from the Hudson for a long time

A tribute to banality.

Looks like different cladding on the inner most walls?

Ok,ok..Interesting, interesting..More please, before a revised holistical conclusion/final perception of mine of it going to be official.Yeah:thinking::face_with_peeking_eye::upside_down_face:

The cladding on the central mass was to remain faceted/ be a different type than the hotel wings.

Though i feel like it will get sort of lost because of the monotonous facade it is reflecting on the wings.

I feel like it could look nice and noticable after completion. With the right lighting, even when overcast, it could bring a contrast to make the “waves” pop. You can see the “waves” pretty present in the slabs above…but that’s fresh concrete slabs. I feel like that facade will make a nice transfer at the floors under the slightly smaller base (compared to the current slabs) and the “neck”…and of course the top. But we still have no true renderings of what the 1,029 foot iteration will look like

?

As it relates to the transfer to the stem it’s going to be pretty abrupt, whereas before VE, the transition was much more “graceful”.

It’s not going to look that nice. They should’ve also removed the slant at the very top since thats the only remaining angled element (not including the staircase below it facing the east). The slant no longer makes sense from the west because the physical scrolling of the building no longer exists.

The green highlight is what we’re seeing installed along every slab until the transfer. Though it becomes more diluted in the transfer on the “neck” I still believe it could look pretty nice in the outcome, especially if the neck is still glass clad with slight curves. The crown might not be as present in the former design we saw, but with this new glass and previous lighting I personally still have hopes for the final outcome. Though we haven’t seen renderings, the final design is already designed

Are those, like, two concrete columns rising at the neck part?

Those are 2 of the 3 drop ride enclosures.
