NEW YORK | The Nova | 290 FT | 24 FLOORS

This is done - and turned out GREAT…

The overall Architectural Design is a very attractive modernist work of “artful architecture”. I particularly like the cladding on this building. Architecture with a Capital “A”.

Good post: this is truly an unsung architectural hero. :star_struck:

This building is an Architectural Gem sitting in the middle of the land of Architectural mediocrity that is Long Island City.

The only drawback to this building is the proximity to the Queensboro plaza elevated train station. Several elevated trains converge making sharp turns approaching the station: it gets a bit noisy at times - particularly when the ‘screeching’ sounds of the train happen when passing that tight curve on the tracks.

The simple fix in some of the apartments was to add a layer of window sound proofing to eliminate most of the ambient noise. I have spent a lot of time working inside some of those apartments: so I speak here from personal experience.

A small quibble on what is otherwise a major Architectural Super Star in Long Island City. :star_struck:

BTW. They may still have this nifty little model in the lobby reception area.

Fogarty Finger has elevated New York architecture. Alongside Morris Adjami and Hill West, I believe they fill the gap between large firms, star architects, and everyday practices.

I believe that the general public needs a wake-up call to the value of Good Architectural Design. “Architectural Design” in general has not captured the public imagination for far too long.

The post 911 Architectural competitions was one such ‘wake-up’ call that helped to raise the awareness of good architecture: now we need to raise that awareness once again. :star_struck:

Firms like Fogarty Finger, and many others consistently do great ‘stand-out’ architecture like The Nova Condo building: good to see them getting the public showcase recognition they deserve on these forums.

Thank for posting those great photos.

Cheers
