Arverne East update - construction beginning on Building D (Edgemere Ave & Beach 35th St)
Upon completion in 2028, the 355,000-square-foot building will deliver 230 affordable rentals and 90 homes designated for ownership.
Joel Steinmetz, through the Bedford-Stuyvesant-based entity Lead It Builders LLC, filed permits with the city last week for a new 5-story building with 99 units at 21-01 Cornaga Ave. in the easternmost neighborhood of Queens.
The project would rise on what is now a vacant lot used for parked cars located between Beach 21st and Beach 22nd streets. It would span a total of about 72,600 square feet, split between 65,900 square feet of residential space and 6,700 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. It would also contain outdoor recreation space on the roof and 50 parking spots in the basement, records show.
NoHo-based design firm Nikolai Katz is listed as the architect of record. The permits were first reported by PincusCo.
