actually it looks like they lit up the spire tonight, but its nowhere near as bright as it was the last time.

edit: now comes the crown. Its pretty subtle right now but they’re testing it.

So nice to have a functioning beacon atop a supertall again (cough 1WTC).
I’m getting heart palpitations anticipating the crown lighting. It’s a pretty damn big structure so the impact on the nighttime skyline will be immense.

I was also checking the camera, but the archives. The crown lights do not just turn on, they fade. And each individual section of light on the spire is not on the same circuit, meaning each section can be a different color or they can make light shows with it. I hope it turns on like a lightsaber
