Nice shot!! The towers look massive!
Yea, I noticed between my 2 trips in August 2016 and August 2017
And I don’t remember I’ve said it before, but they did take down the temporary cross a few months ago, August 9th around 2:10PM to be exact
Beautiful shot of the Sphere back to the WTC Site, Tectonic. ![]()
Thought I would share: the archdioceses is having financial issues. Hopefully it won’t cause a delay. Greek Orthodox leaders acknowledge financial crisis | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Does anyone know when the marble is supposed to come?
Sphere being officially dedicated tomorrow:
It’s ridiculous its even taking this long. going on 4 years of construction for a freaking church?! Give me a break. This thing is taking so damn long to build and holding up the full completion of Liberty Park and the remainder of Liberty/Greenwich intersections.

There seems to be no activity at the church the last month or so. I’m wondering if its on hold due to financial issues. This thing is dragggging
EDIT: I was right. Construction has halted. BULL SHIT. This thing is never going to be done. This has been a huge waste of time and resources in my opinion. They could have rebuilt at a much smaller scale and still made it beautiful, but the church got greedy. Ugh.
Thanks for the update. Such a shame. I hope by 2025 we are looking at a completed site including 2WTC, PAC, and this church.
Funny thing is I was surprised at how quickly it was progressing. I was expecting it to take a long time.
Does this mean that out of the $37M raised nationally, the value of the current shell is what went to the project and the value of the remaining work was eaten up by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese?
My church in Illinois was required to raise $11K through Philoptohos alone (a national charity). It was reported in October that that $15M is missing from the St. Nicholas account. All that we raised is less than a tenth of 1% of that $15M, which all just went into a black hole. No one’s going to give nationally anymore.
I’ll bet someone in the GOA has been buying a lot of bottles of that Stongyli Megistis olive oil… (something shady being peddled at Greek American churches to send money “under the table” to keep Turkey from taking a Greek Island…)

Wondering if work is going to resume soon on the Church. It appears some equipment has been moved back to the site.

I looked it up and haven’t seen anything, but it does look like they added more to the building comparing to the last photo
