Oh the render, renders are not always 100% accurate in regard to height because they are stitched into photos.
I would trust the DOB documents over visuals.

Blocking the PanAm building?
not really, very little overlap and vanderbilt ave / yale club separate the two
Metlife is also centered on 44th st, so it can never really be blocked.
The main mass of this building based on zoning documents doesnt fully clear the height of Metlife, though very close, the bulkhead however does.
1st of 3 cranes going up now
I think this is the first big crane since 270 in midtown (the crane at 520 was not big)
The first of many

Madison Ave is getting all the action.
Where the elite meet!
Is the building actually rising above ground?
I believe the entirety of Manhattan sidewalks and streets have actually risen 50’, so its not above ground yet.
Happy to see this finally rising. Now we have to wait for 570
.
Don’t worry 570 is going to be bigger than this
How big?
From all the transactions we already know its going to be bigger, but why comment that in response to Nickfloyo’s post? Doesn’t really matter that it’s bigger than this to need to wait on something.
