I don’t get why people hate “tacky” towers. I love em
Big photo dump, lots had been done since I last walked by with my camera.
Workers were out in full force cleaning the base, unwrapping bollards, and putting finishing touches on stuff on 47th St and Park Ave, 48th St and Madison Ave still remain fenced off. 48th St will probably remain closed off until the construction elevators are fully disassembled and Madison will of course open up when the POPS is complete.
The structure under the white tarp is the GCM entrance and the smaller structure being built out on the opposite end of Madison is a food kiosk.
All the metal trim/framing around the rocks is done, but the finished result looks unfinished.
Sorry for the length of the post, it looks like the grid feature actually doesn’t work anymore.
Looks great to me.
Spectacular!
Is that lobby artwork from the old building?
damn that rock wall looks so corny
Confirmed – folks moved in today
Pardon the poor photos - I’m no artist. I work close by and walk by this a few times a week. It’s amazing how fast they cleaned up the Park Ave and 47th st entrances in time for today’s move-in. The pictures truly don’t do this building any justice. It’s incredibly sleek and imposing up close. My only gripe is the terrible interior art installation in the lobby and (of course) the stone wall on the Madison Avenue side. The vertical structure on the Madison side also undermines the symmetry of the building a bit in my opinion, but hopefully it comes together upon completion like the rest of the building.
We’re so close to seeing the full lighting.
Also, the vertical lights that aren’t on the top two tiers are also able to be animated.

Simply a monster of a building. Incredibly impressive

it was really cool seeing everyone taking pics of the tower, I wish I could’ve gone in to see the lobby tho
Brilliant updates! Other than the “green wall” and construction elevator (and the immediate area around it on the base), 270 looks pretty much finished!
Truly a work of art!
