My guess is they try to sell. 270 should be more than enough to house NY staff given they’ve moved a lot of support staff to full-time work from home. Not a lot of demand for office space these days, but 383 is well located and shouldn’t be too difficult to lease up with interior renovations.
Dang, they did a lot, nice captures!
Even though the sky is overcast in them, this gives us a clear indication that there is a slight brown/bronze hue to the glass, which I thought there was on the clear days I’ve seen it since it wasn’t as “blue” as other buildings. I dont know how I feel about it yet, I’ll need to see more installed and on a clear day as well to judge it.
The 2 little fins on each bay of the N/S facades really do add a lot of depth and texture.
I did make use of a polarizing filter just FYI.
Oh lol, I still think it has the slightest brown tint to it though.
right, the CP filter just eliminates the glare…it shouldn’t alter the color (unless you buy a cheap one)
Awesome update. I’m excited to see the diamonds cladded.
I was thinking the same thing.
I noticed in the 2nd picture that part of the facade has a ‘notch’ cut into it, unlike the other side of the same panel.
I wonder if that is for some of the facade LEDs that were pictured in the renderings
Wonder how much JP Morgan’s logo/brand color (brown) played into their decision to go this route
Personally I like the slightly dark tint on the glass so far. By coincidence, most of the highly reflective new glass towers seem concentrated on the Far West Side while the new Midtown East towers have more texture, color and opacity to the facades. I hope this trend continues, it should make for an interesting skyline dynamic.
This tower is going to be utterly extraordinary.
It’s interesting how much bigger they designed the encasements around the columns than the actual columns themselves.
That’s a fairly standard/common practice when cladding a column that is not flush with a floor plate and that extends beyond it. Also has to do with proportions of the facade.
Like I mentioned previously, the columns themselves on the interior will be fire rated with maybe 4’ wide encasements, so you wouldnt want the panel to be smaller than the resulting column after its fireproofed/encased with sheetrock.
Amazing pictures!
Nice sunny day today (and nice weather) so I’m going to try and capture some photos with my actual camera instead if my phone and really see the true color of the facade.
Knowing my luck the clouds will come by though lol.
‘true’ color is highly subjective, but this is a good point of departure
I meant with the eye (so daylight ~6000K), that can’t be subjective (though everyone sees color differently) I indended true color in the sense of a clear sky with no clouds changing the hue. Lol
