Besides hoping we can avoid the obvious catastrophe of a collapse, assuming it would need to be torn down how would you even conduct a managed de-construction if its unsafe to even enter it?
which building is it? The smaller one seems more prone to this sort of thing, stacking all those floors on top of a lowrise structure.
News is saying it’s the 21st floor of the Phizer building, which is currently being extensively rebuilt for residential conversion. I don’t understand the reports about the falling “bricks” but I assume we’ll find out.
There is also the limestone prewar that is sandwiched against the construction. 801 2nd Ave
As far as what the media is reporting and has been said by DOB officials, it is just the Phizer building. Of course in a worse case scenario where a collapse was to occur, yes the pre-war would likely be severely damaged as well.
