NEW YORK | 200 Greenwich St (2WTC) | 1,251 FT | 90 FLOORS | ON HOLD

Thank you for the video! What height did you make the latest 2 WTC? Could you please post more angles, such as viewing from Brooklyn and from Midtown?

I agree - The diamond design to me always looked like something out of 1990 ish. The Liberty Place buildings in Philly aesthetic comes to mind…

And if you think about it:

Liberty Place buildings were designed in mid to late 80s
Diamond design dates to 2006
This new design we will say designed in 2021

So we are now about 17 years removed from diamond design, which itself is about 17 years removed from the time Liberty Place went up

Long story short the 2WTC diamond design is dated! I am 100% on board with this new design. Just build it already!

Thanks. I modeled it at 1350ft.

I love the diamonds. Such a unique design compared with the boxy garden mess right now.

Now that there are official renderings for 270 Park, I just can’t help myself but point out the design is weirdly similar to the WTC idea I shared in 2019 (replying to the original post). … Which is cool!

A clearer image of that design:

I randomly stumbled upon this plaza rendering for what may be Two World Trade Center Plaza

Not sure if this has been posted before. There are also more renderings on the site linked.

I believe that’s an older plan

Yeah before they had the beer garden there they had a little sitting area there. That was one of the early designs before they scaled it back. Pic from NYguy on skyscraper page.

Per TKD:

Thought I would also share this here from SSC, a comparison I made of the original Tower 2 with the 2 current designs we are aware of. There is a slight perspective but it still gives an understanding of the scale.

Thanks for sharing that mcart,

I also had this one on SSC. In all honesty, I really hope the leaked basement model is not a contender at all.

I think the one on the left in the current design in play. I’m waiting for an official announcement from silverstein

I’d be fine with the design in this picture if it was built but I hope it at least looks good at night and isn’t a dud like 3 WTC or 4 WTC’s lighting is. That mechanical space in the middle is ripe for a nice lighting setup along with the crown.

I dislike the leaked basement iteration because it’s like a mishmash of items that were haphazardly put together, the setback increments are all over the place and the setback layouts in correlation with the plan layout is extremely bizarre. The shape of the 2 mechanical bands with their angled façade is also strange. All in all a very odd attempt of editing the original diamond design as that is what it was derived from. I’d much rather prefer the newer stepped bundled tube design. But surely anything else that is released will hopefully be better than the basement leak.

I think we’ll see something similar to either designs, with slight changes throughout the structure

My dream for this project is for it to be 1776 feet roof height.

I honestly would’ve loved for one WTC to have a roof height of 1776ft and then have the spire reach to 2001ft. It would’ve been a nod to both the founding year of this country and a remembrance of the attacks of 2001.

Or they could have had each building in the WTC complex meet a certain height like one WTC be 2001ft, two wtc be 1776, and three WTC be 1624 (when New York was founded.)

That would’ve been cool! What about 4, 5, and even 7 World Trade Center?

Honestly I’m ok with how they are at the moment. Four and Seven WTC designs are pretty fine. I’d mostly want to focus on the three main buildings since those three would be the most noticeable in not only the world trade complex, but the downtown skyline. It would also be New York’s version of Shanghai tower and the two buildings that follow with One wtc being the crown jewel of the complex.
