No, it’s still not embedded properly - only the actual link is showing up. We’re all just big NYC nerds and finding ways to upload the photos and including the link below it.
The instagram link at the bottom of photo is more consistent with the ‘forum’ format where an individual member posts a photo, and perhaps a comment attached.
The large format Instagram posting to the forum, with frame and title block, reads like an advertisement and thus interrupts to the normal flow of the member posts.
My opinion, the new way seems better. IMHO
There’s more work involved with the first way you mention.
1)Take a screenshot
2) Crop photo
3) upload to yimby
4) copy link
5) Paste to yimby
OR
1)Go to insta page on desktop or laptop
2)Go to “Inspect Element” for the source image
3)find and copy the link for the source image
4) paste to yimby
5) back to instagram to copy the link
6)back to yimby to paste the link
Before it was just
- copy link in instagram
- paste link
I’ve recently passed up posting some insta photos here when I’m pressed for time, so I hope the feature comes back eventually.
Yes, that is true. However, our forum exchange here right now, these comments are less likely to become bifurcated between a dozen framed instagram links; I see those types of posts as cluttering the forum. They also attract those who embed spam into the forum. I should know as most of my instagram posts link back to my own company websites.
There will be less clutter, and stealthy spam this way - but not my call. I see your point, and either way seem OK.

TY all! Unfortunately nothing I can do either way… the Forum runs on Discourse and they do whatever they do, and the Forum appears however it appears!
Yes, and my point here is that the way the forum appears is OK. I see others have objections to the change; its all good IMHO.
Thanks Yimby, I know it has little to do with you. I actually think it’s instagram that maybe changed something because Instagram embedding on SSC’s forum also stopped working around the same time.
Instagram wants to make it easier for the user but they just making it more and more difficult

This building is stunningly beautiful; on the good/better/best scale - best for sure. The most impressive aspect for me is the masonry work on the facade: a delight to the eye, and a marvel of craftsmanship.
I am reminded of the Architectural oddities of Antoni Gaudi when looking at this building; a paired down, more modern version - but equally beautiful.
It’s a quirky building, Gaudiesque is a good description. I just don’t get the arched areas left in bare concrete detracting from the beautiful brick work. Those areas look unfinished.
I am assuming there is some type of surface/finish treatment coming; those sections definitely do not work as an artful ‘raw concrete’ aesthetic.
I think those sections look completely out of artistic context, and just simply ‘unfinished’ - so would be surprised if they intend to leave it looking like some unsightly unfinished section of the building.
That would be a definite downgrade on the good/better/best aesthetic rating scale to the lowly rating of ‘good’…
Maybe those areas will be painted or stained. If you look closely at the middle section it transitions with a cove into the upper brick section so I don’t think anything substantial could be applied to the concrete surface. It will be interesting to see what if anything they will do to the concrete.

I want those raw concrete arches on the mid and upper sections to better match the darker grey hue of the brickwork on the facade: as of now the color contrast is a bit too stark.
There is, however, good news. It is only a matter of time, before the weather, atmospheric soot, and the passage of time mellow out the light color of those concrete arches and the entire facade with blend together nicely into a mottled grey color.
Hold up, that yimby article says the building has 50 floors. But I only count 31, what’s up with that?
Marketing vs actual
The building design was 50 floors originally, and then some zoning issue came up: requiring them to change the apartments from 10 foot ceiling height, to 14 foot ceiling height - taller ceiling height on each floor, but less total amount floor count.
This had something to do with FAR zoning calculations, and the change in ceiling height was apparently the remedy to the zoning violation. Their is an interesting back story to this project, but I am not sure about the actual details.
The fact that these apartment all ended up with 14 foot hight ceilings is interesting - that is a very high ceiling height for a condo apartment. I think it will be a good selling point for some; and a turn-off for others - so either way it all turned out OK for this project.
