I don’t think that it will look terrible, but this site deserves much better. A brick and limestone building would have been nice.

This may be the beginning of a new possible supertall

We’ve been watching this for awhile. There’s definitely a thread already. Sad to hear it will bite the dust. More prewar on 57th lost

I agree.

Also, it’s being replaced by a roughly 20 story boutique office building.

If I’m being honest, there is so much ugly bullshit in the section of town, they could tear down Carnage hall and I wouldn’t care. I would never go for a beautiful stroll through this section of town to enjoy the architecture. There if far too much ugly clutter to get any sort of enjoyment.

I’m all for them building mega talks here an leaving the rest of the attractive parts of the city alone.

But their greed is endless and there will always be some cheap-ass developer that wants to ruin NY a little bit more. That’s the sad reality of America’s Capitol city in the 21st century.

440-foot boutique office tower designed by FXCollaborative. Too bad, I would have liked to see the pre-war base preserved with a tall, slender residential tower added on. Hopefully the design will be nice.

(PS there were two threads when I searched for 123 West 57th, mods could you merge them?)

that sucks, wasn’t there a 700 foot proposal before this?

@chris08876 @Mackensen please merge NEW YORK | 125 West 57th Street | 440 FT | 26 FLOORS

Done.

The loss of beautiful old buildings on 57th is quite sad, particularly where, as here, the replacement is lame.

I really hope we don’t get something like that diagram that came out a while ago. What a waste of a site

This one? Is this the site? @mcart

That’s a different site down the street to the east, @mcart was referring to this, which is what is proposed to be built here.

Okay, I see. They both are kind of generic and bland. Idk, my opinion. Hopefully, more fruitful renderings will be released, especially considering these are prime real estate spots.
