NEW YORK | 122 East 11th Street | FT | 13 FLOORS

As first reported by Crain’s, SK Development recently filed plans with the Department of Buildings for a 13-story building at 122 E. 11th St.

According to DOB filings, the proposed structure would span roughly 136,400 square feet and include 69 residential units, about 12,000 square feet of commercial space, and a loading area for large vehicles.

Meanwhile, last week, a construction trailer arrived on the site… the first activity we’ve seen here since a soil sample was taken last summer. (H/T Steven.)

We can not reasonably expect to match this in NEW YORK residential architecture; but surely we can do better than Lego Land buildings. There is a discussion to be had as to why so many new buildings in NYC do not come close the the beauty (or craft/building trade quality) of the Dorilton Condo building: perhaps too deep a subject to delve into on a public forum. :grimacing:

I am particularly interested in the issues regarding the craft trades; which have also declined considerably over the years. Considering some sort of ‘private’ discussion group for construction trade pros like myself: who know maybe this be an idea worth pursuing - or maybe not..

A lot of it is the cost of labor.
