This will be a 45-story apartment building of 800 apartments, 160 of which will be affordable or low-income housing. The developer also wants to build a covered parking garage of 501 spaces. There will be retail shops on the ground floor of the apartment building.
If it goes through, the massive apartment building will be built in a vacant lot behind the Abundant Life Family Worship Church that is there currently.
Land is expensive in most places in North and CentralJersey excluding near the PA border. New Brunswick itself is fairly dense with most parking lots already constructed on.
I thought Newark had taller buildings but apparently not (its downtown core is just relatively prominent). The tallest building in Newark would be hardly noticeable in Jersey City. Looks like at 45 stories (assuming NIMBYs don’t get this chopped + it actually gets built (New Brusnwick track record for proposed towers is not promising)) it would be near the same height, but most likely taller than Newarks tallest.
