Construction of a new 11-story mixed use building containing 78 residential units, 1,350 square feet of retail space and amenities.
No renderings yet, just these axonometric diagrams, elevations, and floor plans. The top floors cantilever over a curved retail space which could end up looking very nice.
The architect, MVMK, has done nice work building similar sized buildings on similar narrow lots in the past (72 York St for instance), so there is good reason to think this won’t look horrible.
That article is full of inaccuracies and bias. It doesn’t mention that the project has 4 more affordable units than it did in the original version; this was the tradeoff for not including parking.
It also incorrectly states that this project is in the Journal Square 2060 redevelopment plan, and that it doesn’t have parking because of a (nonexistent) amendment to that plan.
In fact, it doesn’t have parking because it has the 8 affordable units, under the Affordable Housing Overlay rules.
