Unfortunately this is going to go nowhere. Years ago there was a proposal to remove Elitch Gardens (a theme park in downtown Denver), but it continues to be open. I assume the failure to redevelop Elitch Gardens will mean that the area around Ball Arena will fail to be developed as well.
The fact that there is an amusement park taking up valuable space in downtown Denver should be a source of deep shame. It’s not even a historic one like the Tivoli Gardens in downtown Copenhagen. Elitch Gardens at this site only opened in 1995! And it’s only open for a few months every year. What a waste of space.
But what this means is that there is no demand for redeveloping these areas, whether it’s the around around Ball Arena, Elitch Gardens or the seas of parking lots surrounding Mile High Stadium.
