Warsaw. A very fine city.
Intercontinental tower, staying ~30 floors in the sky, and a pool at 43. Very heavy fog.
Bonus: Varso Tower as seen from the executive lounge on the 41st floor. They decorated the main observation balcony for Christmas.
A few final photos. Decades of communist rule and preceeding wars have greatly diminished much of the city, this is especially felt when contrasting with Wroclaw, where much more of the “old city” has survived.
nyc needs to step up its storefront game
Because of it’s insanely massive footprint, the cranes booms can’t reach all sides of the tower.
The construction of a new supertall building in Shanghai.
Construction of two large skyscrapers in China; I took these photos from a moving train. The bottom photo might be from Changdu—why are the two construction cranes connected by a kind of bridge? And how are they being hoisted up?
As for the bottom project (Greenland Chengdu), it was put on hold for a few years until resumption last year.
This tower is the first to use this platform by CSCEC, tailored to its specific constraints, which climbs along the central core shaft
Which allows to lift all 3 cranes simultaneously in just 3 hours. A traditional approach of inserting 3 cranes into shafts further away from the very center of the core becomes a problem when it narrows, requiring repositioning of cranes and delays.
Now, the huge steel platform can limit crane access to certain spots, to solve that, they made it a slewing platform which can rotate but requires coordination with all crane operators.
