In late August, we helped to break the story about 620 Folsom Street, a proposed residential tower next to 98 Hawthorne Street. The tower is expected to create 623 new rental apartments, boosted by the 50% state density bonus. I found this story at the end of a long day. Was looking forward to eating dinner, but new I had to cover it ASAP. Every time I say “The Cube” I think of the Aliens from Toy Story talking about The Claw! I really hope this project ends up looking like this, it’d be a playful and noteworthy addition, even if it’s not exactly daring. ---

If they can pull of the disappearing effect well enough this will be a very interesting tower. Also at 640 ft it’ll be the 7th tallest in San Francisco. ---

The podium disappears just like this proposal will when the bay Area nimbys have their way
